Totally Balmy

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing BalmSo it’s happened – I’ve succumbed to the world of cleansing balms and let me tell you something; my skin has never looked better. It really lifts the makeup, dirt and impurities out of your pores without leaving your skin feeling tight afterwards like you’ve just had a face-lift.

I’m currently three quarters of my way through the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm*. I mostly use it at night to dissolve everything off my face, but sometimes I try to make my morning spa-like because I’m just not a morning person and it’s the only thing that shakes me from my slumber. Can I take a moment to remind you to not forget your neck and décolleté in the cleansing process? That traitor shows age quicker than anywhere else, so please treat your neck like you do your face – cleanse, tone and moisturise it people!

This luxurious balm is so soft, you literally need a tiny scoop the size of the top pad of your finger and it will do your whole face and neck. It’s filled with a whole host of ingredients: precious starflower, elderberry, optimega oils (?), rose and mimosa waxes and the anti-ageing star padina pavonica and together they smell just dreamy. Like waking up on holiday – scent of flowers in the breeze, cocktail in hand, faint hint of sunscreen and warm skin – relaxing, spa like and just mmmmmmm. May not be to everyone’s tastes though so have a whiff before you commit.

My skin glows after I’ve used this, it’s like having a 3-minute facial every evening, all that massaging in to the skin, and gorgeous texture is enough to send anyone to sleep. Actually Elemis do say that you can use it as a 10 minute treatment, after massaging you leave it on and place the warm flannel (washcloth for those across the pond) that comes with it over your face and breathe it in baby. Definitely one to do in the bath after a hard day.  As a side note the balm is free of all the nasties – parabens, mineral oils and SLS’s – good one Elemis!

I almost don’t want to finish it up it’s so good. But thankfully since I’m now a cleansing balm convert I’ve got one on the backburner – namely Emma Hardie’s Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing balm and I’ve heard great things about the Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm as a more budget option.

Does this Elemis balm take your fancy? What are your thoughts on cleansing balms? Any favourites you can recommend?
