A few weeks ago I went to learn about the newest collaboration between Bare Minerals and OPI (more on that here) and was treated to a OPI manicure. It’s very rare that someone else does my nails nowadays. I take great delight in sitting down, giving myself a manicure and painting my nails a pretty shade. Also I feel that I know my nails really well and some manicurists just don’t. I know that they don’t like lots of buffing because they become weak and break really low, and buffing always occurs in normal manicures.
Well this manicurist must have had magical powers because my manicure lasted well over 12 days with minimal chipping!
As with all beauty things I watched like a hawk and asked questions. After removing my previous colour, I had a small shape, buff (!!!!) and clean until my nails were shiny and new again. Then the therapist put a drop of OPI’s Chip Skip onto each nail before the Natural Nail base coat. Now I own Chip Skip at home but have never used it, to be honest I didn’t know what it was for. But enlightened by my manicurist she said that it helps the layers of polish adhere better to the nail.
She then applied two thin coats of the shade I’m India Mood for Love (whoever thinks up the names is genius), a top coat and some Avoplex to moisturise those cuticles. And voila, 12 days later minimal chipping.
I was in shock as the days ticked by. After seven days I kept showing everyone ‘look, look’. I’m definitely going to be using Chip Skip in my future DIY manicures. Although I do wonder if my manicure lasted longer because all the products used were OPI and so are meant to work in synergy with each other. I shall wait and see.
Do you use OPI’s Chip Skip? What’s your longest lasting manicure?
