The wedge trainer – comfort and heel height all in one package. The antithesis of heels and more stylish than a pair of regular trainers, I didn’t think I’d like these but I totally caved.
Love em or hate em take your opinion out Isabel Marant. This French designer is the reason the wedge trainer hit the high street with such force. Add to that a celebrity snap up by the likes of Beyoncé, Miranda Kerr and Kate Bosworth and there you have a classic in the making. They are the ultimate off duty accessory, but at £400 a pair they are reserved for the more flash among us. The original’s from Marant are sold out everywhere even if you did want to get your hands on them and apparently they are going for thousands on eBay.
For a lower price tag you can look to stylish footwear brand Ash whose large selection of colours and style prove to be a smart option. However these are still between £139-£169, so may still be out of your price range. The best high street places where I have seen style to rival Isabel’s celeb favs are River Island, Topshop, Next and where I purchased my dupes – Office.
I gazed upon these beauties and I was sold. These taupe suede lovelies with velcro strap detailing, lace up fastening and 8cm concealed wedge are helping me to take a modern, more pretty approach to athletics (although they’ll be no running done in these). Essentially they’re girly trainers.
On mornings when I want to wear something pretty but have the mental alertness of a sock, I reach for these babies to give me the perfect balance of looking taller, wearable comfort and they help to spruce up an outfit – score. So far I’ve been wearing them with jeans, a casual shirt and ‘That’ Jacket (post here (here needs the jacket link) and it works. I’m thinking I might also like to pair them with tights, a maxi skirt and a jumper in Winter a là Kate Bosworth.
What do you think? Will you be picking up a pair?
