It is a sad day in the LL household – Bono mine and Chris’s Bonzai tree is dying a slow death. Thankfully Mamma LL is taking Bono for a holiday to her house to see if she can revive him.
It is also my mum’s 60th birthday on Tuesday, and I asked her today if she ever wondered what her life would be like at 60, and she answered that she never really thought that far ahead and only thought about today and what might happen tomorrow. I definitely think that we can take some advice from Mamma LL – live in the present and now. So today that is just what we did – we ate, we talked, we laughed and we lived.
After walking around like the hunchback of NotreDame most of the day coping with a vodka induced hangover, there was welcome relief in the form of my first meal. Chris decided to treat my mum to a homemade meal as he isn’t going to be around on Tuesday. We were watching Nigel Slater (how great is the Good Food Channel?!) and he made this beautiful Blackberry Pork Recipe, and Chris decided that he was going to try it out. As you can see it was scrumptious.
I’m lucky to have found a boyfriend who likes to cook, as it just so happens I like to eat! We were chatting about how people overcomplicate trying out recipes. My advice is just to try it, if you get it wrong so what! It’s only you in the kitchen, and well…if you get it right that is fab too. Change it up, make it your own. The kitchen shouldn’t be a scary place, you should challenge yourself to cook something you wouldn’t usually and see what happens.
It could be magic! Did you cook anything nice this weekend?
