Makeup and I usually stick to the neutral taupey eyeshadow territory, peachy blush and a my lips but better pink infused lip. Anything that strays from this is usually a no-go.
About a month ago I had my makeup done at the Professional Beauty Show, as a model stand in for the Warpaint Conference and it was about as far from my comfort zone as you could get. A dark eye, dark lip and big hair combination executed by popular makeup artist Collette Casey. Collette regularly does hair and makeup for editorial covers, beauty shoots and celebrities for red carpet events.
The look she created on me was one that she had done on Georgia May Foote of Coronation Street fame, for the National Television Awards 2014. It was based on the theme disco decadence.
I absolutely loved the vampy eyes, and the eyeshadow palette she used from Charlotte Tilbury was just beautiful. Usually for a smokey eye I just stick to the usual greys, browns and blacks, so this copper, burgundy eye was a surprisingly welcome change. The dark lip was a shock for me to see on myself, and if I was to wear again, I think it would have to be a little lighter and without the eye look for me to feel comfortable. But I liked the fact that it was so far from my usual look, and it gave me the confidence to try something new. I may not be rocking out the full on bold lip anytime soon, but I’m slowly working my way up to stronger colours.
Below are a list of all the products that Collette used on me in case you are hankering to recreate the look yourself.

What do you think? Do I suit a dark lip and dark eye? Or do you think I would look better with just one?
