Estee Lauder Blush and YSL Lipstick

Estee Lauder Blush and YSL Lipstick

Lately I’ve fallen a bit into a beauty rut. I don’t seem to have the time – actually scratch that – to be honest I don’t seem to have the motivation to do anything beauty related. I’ve stopped wearing makeup to go to work, stopped painting my nails and generally stopped caring. If my friends are reading this, I’m sure they will be seriously worried about me. This isn’t me, I’m the girl who always has immaculate nails, wears makeup and makes an effort with my appearance.

Thing is I’m happy with who I am, I like myself makeup free; I’m lucky that I have great skin to be able to feel confident without it. It shouldn’t stop you either. For some I understand that makeup makes you feel more confident, painted nails make you feel put together and while I love those things too, they don’t define me. You might be thinking that if I don’t feel like bothering anymore then why have I bought new makeup bits? Well that’s because I figured that enough is enough. I love wearing makeup, I love painting my nails and I love taking care of myself.

Thankfully I had a £50 Debenhams voucher* to help drag me out of my rut and get excited about beauty again. Now I absolutely adore a little high street drugstore pick me up when I’m feeling low, but nothing gets me more excited than a high end splurge. As for my choices, I’d been swatching Estée Lauder’s Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Blush in Tease 01, (£30) everytime I’d gone into Debenhams the past few weeks, and each time I fell in love with it a little more. It’s the most beautiful, high shine innocent pink that I hope will give my makeup a polished finish. The texture is a special tri-blend gel, powder and liquid in one, which you can build to a sheeny highlight on the tops of cheeks or use all over for a flush of colour.

Next I’d thought I’d try the new Volupté Sheer Candy Lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent (£23.50). I picked up the shade 5 Mouth-Watering Berry and whilst it may look extremely dark in the tube, this sheer glossy balm is a nourishing wash of colour. It smells really good too!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who gets in a beauty rut and spends money to make herself feel better? Help a gal out here!
